In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard's professional career started in 1999 when she was offered a position aboard the vessel F/V Sunset. It is a 65-foot halibut vessel was converted into a tender for salmon by Murat Ariatn, who has been fishing commercially for over 20 years.
